As we are currently experiencing global doom and gloom, I thought we could all do with a splash of colour in our lives. And with the Spring Summer 2020 palette proving so vibrant and bright, this seemed like the perfect opportunity.

So what colours should we all be wearing for the upcoming season? And which designers are championing these hues? Well, SS2020 is all about flame scarlets, tangerine oranges, saffron and lemon yellows, soft lavenders, faded denim blues, Biscay and chive greens and coral pinks.

Gudu

One brand making a colour statement this season is Ukrainian label GUDU. All their leather is vegan, and they have some pieces in beautiful bright colours. I adore the lemon-yellow vegan leather dress which I could wear non-stop, as well the gorgeous green pant suit and fabulous texturized skirts in mint-green and saffron yellow.

Another label which is doing colour proud this coming season is Ester Manas – a young designer I discovered at Paris Fashion Week, who runs her brand according to the slogan ‘Size Doesn’t Matter’. All pieces are created according to a ‘one size for all’ concept and this season they have some uber cool ruffle tops and dresses in on-trend colours such as chive green, a light sky blue and pastel tangerine orange, as well as the earthy, burnt-orange hue popular with big names such as Valentino and Marc Jacobs for SS20.

Avavav is another label I learned about recently, which has some stunning lime green, faded scarlet, lemon yellow and faded denim pieces this season. The brand is committed to sustainability, reducing waste by producing only what is relevant, and keeping quality high but quantities low by creating monthly capsule collections. And we simply can’t talk colour without mentioning Zandra Rhodes who is going all out with lavenders, yellow and bright oranges for her Jubilee SS20 collection
